Learning is as natual as sleeping, eating, drinking or breathing. As long as we live, we learn. Education is not confined to the walls of a school building. No single person, institution or government can define, what we should know, in order to be happy and have a successful life. Take a journey with us through our blog and see the world through our eyes!
Recently, Asma has been interested in all kinds of blocks/building games. She can keep herself busy on the carpet for quite a while, constructing her creations.
Masha'Allah! Asma looks like she is enjoying herself. I wanted to ask that when you choose toys for your kids what sort of toys do you prefer. And what is your view on young girls being given barbie dolls to play with. :) Zahra
Toys vary, depending on the age of kids, of course. Generally, we go for the educational stuff, which is quite a broad category. Asma likes to play with these building blocks (we have a few different sets), she adores simple jigsaw puzzles, loves her elder sister's cooking and doctor's sets. And sometimes she's totally engaged in simply sorting out her box of hair-bands, hair clips, etc. :) Just a couple days ago, she herself found a new toy - took salt box in the kitchen, a spoon and a plastic glass and started measuring salt from box into the glass and then pouring it back. And Asma has a full shelf of picture books at her reach, which she visits quite often and pulls out books for me to read.
Barbies I don't encourage but don't mind if my girls play with other types of dolls. With my elder one, we worked on making properly covering clothes for her dolls - so dolls can be very edcational as well. :)
